A 62ft 1990 John Rickerby 4 berth traditional stern narrowboat.
Rainbow Gypsy is a striking 62ft traditional stern narrowboat, built in 1990 by the respected boatbuilder John Rickerby. Her interior is a celebration of character and colour—beautifully appointed with flamboyant flair that sets her apart from the ordinary.
Upon entering the boat from the stern, you step into the engine room, which houses the main engine control panel and a combined throttle and gear lever immediately to port. To starboard, there’s a 10L diesel tank for the diesel-fired boiler, with the heater itself located beneath it. The main electrical locker is positioned in the forward port corner, containing the 240V consumer unit inside, the 12V switch and fuse panel on the outside of the access door, and the starter battery master switch on the rear face. Just aft of the electrical locker is the solar panel control panel, and beneath it sits a Sterling Pro-Combi inverter/charger.
The engine room floor consists of four removable panels, beneath which lie the main engine, batteries, weed hatch, fuel shut-off cock, and the starter battery master switch. A single door on the starboard side leads from the engine room into the main living area.
Step forward into the charming galley kitchen, featuring a freestanding full-size cooker, a Belfast-style sink, and a fridge—all framed by warm wooden worktops and generous undercounter storage. A breakfast bar adds a sociable touch, perfect for morning coffee or evening wine.
The saloon is a cosy haven, complete with a sofa bed, wall-mounted TV, built-in wine rack, and a wood-burning stove for warmth and ambiance. A side hatch brings in fresh air and natural light, enhancing the relaxed atmosphere.
Moving aft, the walk-through bathroom is a stylish retreat, adorned with elegant green and white tiling. It includes a bath with shower over, a wash basin, and a cassette toilet—offering comfort and practicality in equal measure.
At the stern lies the bedroom, where a comfortable double bed, wardrobe storage, and a duck hatch create a restful space to unwind. USB charging points are located throughout the boat, including beside the bed, ensuring modern convenience is never far away.
Whether you're seeking a liveaboard with personality or a weekend escape with soul, Rainbow Gypsy invites you to embrace life on the water with style and spirit.
